I still remember the first time reading those lines in a story that will forever live in my heart as one of my favorite books. The appeal to millions around the globe is hardly surprising: The notion that there is Magic in the world – that simply with the flick of a wand you could solve a lot of your problems…dishes or laundry anyone?
But of course, the magic of Hogwarts lives only on paper and in the brilliant mind of J.K. Rowling herself. For us normal muggles nothing rings truer than “Magic is something YOU make”.

Entrepreneurship = Magic
Especially in the world of small business and entrepreneurship Magic is not something that just is…it is up to you to find it within yourself and make it happen. I have been lucky enough, that with Charming Chestnuts I have found my passion and making the magic happen there falls easy to me. I love what I do and so when it comes time to buckle down, get those orders out, create an exciting new collection for a styled shoot or start prepping my Christmas Shop in August I can wave my own little wand (aka my mouse) and watch the sparks fly.
Magic is everywhere
But not just in small business, even everyday life can have it’s share of special moments that with a bit of effort on our part can turn truly magical. I’ve actually have had 2 of those moments this week:
- After a long summer of uncertainty and ups and downs I’ve been hustling hard with job applications and interviews to secure a full-time position and some stability for my little Chestnut-tribe. Add a little magic to the mix and on Tuesday I found myself with 3 job offers in hand to choose from. Famine to feast or so they say. Needless to say there are some exciting times coming up for me and the boys. But don’t worry, Charming Chestnuts will of course be along for the ride.
- I got to watch my big boys eyes light up with wonder and curiosity as he stepped into his Kindergarten classroom for the first time and meet his teacher. What an exciting time he has ahead of him. And I get to be there right beside him, staring in wonder, knowing that this magical little boy is in the truest sense something I made…. (with a little help from the hubby of course)
