Everyone’s story is different. So much is true not just for your everyday life but also, and maybe more importantly so, in love… I find it incredibly interesting to hear how different couples met and how their paths in life have intertwined.
Some of course are your not so far-fetched high-school-romances turned epic devotion. Others, and I’m proud to say mine is one of them, are not so straight forward and in hindsight maybe not even be likely to happen again. Those stories, where a split second decision caused you to come across your significant other and changed the course of your journey forever.
Chocolate cravings for the win
I mean, who would have thought, that only 3 weeks into a one year stay in a country on the other side of the world (aka Australia) this small town German girl would follow some serious chocolate cravings to the supermarket where Mr Chestnut happened to be doing some grocery shopping for his mum – crazy. And like the say: The rest is history and now part of our journey to love.
Mum’s the word
There are of course other types of love too, not just the romantic kind, and they too are part of a journey. One that definitely comes to mind is the love of motherhood. That journey starts in pregnancy – feeling a new life grow inside you. And then when you become a mom your whole world shifts. All of a sudden this tiny human – that you created (crazy, right?) – fills your heart with the most amazing feeling of love and need to protect him from all that could befall him in this world.
Slowly we’re entering a new stage in this journey too. Pre-K graduation is in 2 weeks and this momma is already grabbing her tissues in preparation. And while I might have to let go a little more with each passing year, I will never stop loving, protecting and being there for my little chestnuts – wherever our journey might take us. That’s what a mum does.
Never will anything mean as much to me as my beautiful boys.
